Treasures of Indochina ( 15 days/ 14 nights)
Day 1: Hanoi Arrival (D) Tonight our group will gather together for a welcome dinner to go through the trip plan together.
Day 2: Hanoi - Halong Bay (B/L/D) After breakfast we head for a 3 hour drive to Halong Bay. This two-day cruise gives us a chance to enjoy the bay from the luxury of our private junk. We board at noon and enjoy lunch on board. In the afternoon, we explore some of the limestone caves. Then our captain will find a secluded spot for swimming and sun bathing before dinner. For the night owls, there is an option of night fishing.
Day 3: Halong Bay – Da nang (B/L) Waking up in the morning, we have time for an early morning dip followed by breakfast. This morning we continue to cruise around the bay to find more secluded areas to either swim or kayak in. At midday we will return to the main harbor for a 3-hour journey back to Hanoi. Tonight we catch the night train to go to Danang.
Day 4: Danang - Hoi An (L/D) After arriving in Danang, we have lunch at a local restaurant follow by a glimpse of Danang City. We visit the Cham Museum on the way to Hoi An. Check in and regroup later in the afternoon for a short walk around Hoi An ancient town, tonight we enjoy dinner together in the peaceful setting of Hoi An.
Day 5: Hoi An (B/L) This morning we will have a short boat trip to visit local handicraft villages and the boat building yard. We will head back to Hoi An town for lunch, followed by a free afternoon.
Day 6: Danang fly to HCMC (B/D) A free morning in Hoi An then after lunch we will return to Danang for our flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Check into the hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. In the afternoon we will enjoy a half day city tour. Have dinner together on a cruise along the Saigon river.
Day 7: Cao Dai temple and Cu Chi Tunnel (B/L) Tay Ninh, near the Cambodian border, is home to the unique Cao Dai sect, whose patron saints include Joan of Arc, Victor Hugo and Winston Churchill to name a few. The religion is a mix of Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism and Christianity. The trip to Tay Ninh is combined with a visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels. We drive back to Ho Chi Minh around 4pm and you will have a free evening to enjoy the night life of HCMC.
Day 8: HCM fly Siem Reap (B/L) A relaxing morning before we catch the flight to Siem Reap. In the afternoon we visit the Roulos Group of temples at Angkor. The Roulos Group are the oldest temples in the complex, dating from 879-893. The most impressive of the three remaining temples is Prasat Bakong, a five-stepped pyramid temple dedicated to King Indravarman. From here we proceed to the hilltop temple of Phnom Bakheng, and as the end of the day approaches, we climb the imposing remains for a truly memorable sunset over Angkor.
Day 9: Angkor Temple complex (B/L) After an early breakfast we drive to the Angkor Complex to visit Pre Rup and the East Mebon en route to the exquisite Banteay Srey. We then return to Siem Reap for some lunch. In the afternoon we visit the majestic Angkor Wat.
Day 10: Angkor Temple Complex (B/L) This morning we visit one of Angkor’s most fascinating ruins: Ta Prohm. After Ta Prohm we head for Banteay Kdei and the nearby lake of Sras Srang. This afternoon we visit Angkor Thom and Ta Prohm temple, the Bayon, Baphoun and the Terrace of Elephants.
Day 11: Siem Reap boat trip to Phnom Penh (B/L) Today we will have an adventurous boat trip to Phnom Penh – an opportunity to soak up the scenery and local life in Cambodia. Check into the hotel in Phnom Penh and then have an afternoon city tour.
Day 12: Phnom Penh fly – Vientiane (B) Free day to wander around the markets in Phnom Penh until we take our flight to Vientiane.
Day 13: Vientiane drive to Luang Prabang (B/L) Vientiane is such a small charming city. We will take a morning tour, followed by a visit to local temples and the victory monument and then drive through magnificent scenery to Luang Prabang.
Day 14: Luang Prabang (B/L) Today we make a visit the Royal Palace Museum followed by the morning market and Ban Phanom weaving village. Later we take a boat trip on the Mekong River to the holy caves of Pak Ou including a picnic lunch before returning to Luang Prabang. Tonight we will have a goodbye dinner before flying back to Vientiane tomorrow.
Day 15: Luang Prabang- fly to Vientiane- depature (B) The morning you will have enough time to discover the Golden City monastery and temples of Vat May, Vat Vixoun and Vat That Luang. Today we will say goodbye to our companions and take a flight to Vientiane where we take the connecting flight back home. Trip ends.
